To simplify use to the extreme, the BV35 does not have a start button. A light press on the trigger turns it on. When shooting, autofocus kicks in to ensure sharp images, the flash activates automatically if necessary, and an indicator light warns of red eyes. Then, the motor takes care of positioning the film for the next photo. The BV35 enters sleep mode automatically after one minute of inactivity, saving energy.
