Kodak 35 EF – Kodak’s Return to the 35mm Camera Market

After a long sixteen-year absence from the 35mm camera market, Kodak returned in 1986 with a series of compacts, including the Kodak 35 EF . Made in Japan, this simple and sturdy camera is equipped with the Ektanar 35mm f/4 lens, designed by Kodak in the United States, which offers surprising image quality for such a basic model. With a classic 80s design, the 35 EF is an easy-to-use film camera, perfect for beginners and retro photography enthusiasts.

Main Features 📸

  • Lens : Ektanar 35mm f/4 glass for sharp images
  • Focus : Fixed (everything is sharp from 1m to infinity )
  • Shutter speed : Fixed at 1/125 second
  • Exposure : Set according to the film sensitivity (ISO 100/200 or 400/1000)
  • Built-in flash : Manual flash with activation slider under the device
  • Power Supply : Runs on 2 AAA batteries , mainly for flash and low light indicator
  • Film advancement : Manual with manual advance and rewind dial

Simple and Effective Use

The Kodak 35 EF is designed for simplicity. With a fixed-focus lens and constant shutter speed, there are no complicated settings to master. The camera is activated by sliding the lens cover , which unlocks the shutter release and prepares the camera to shoot. A slider adjusts the aperture to suit the film speed (ISO 100/200 or ISO 400/1000), ensuring optimum results depending on the type of film used.

Manual Flash and Brightness Indicator

When light conditions are insufficient, a red LED lights up in the viewfinder, indicating that you should activate the built-in flash via a slider on the bottom of the camera. Although the Kodak 35 EF can be operated without batteries, the 2 AAA batteries are required to trigger the flash and operate the low-light indicator.

Ideal for Vintage Photography

With its simple design and quality glass lens, the Kodak 35 EF is a great choice for those looking to get started with film photography. It offers a smooth and accessible shooting experience, while capturing images with respectable sharpness thanks to the Ektanar lens. Plus, the manual flash makes it easy to shoot indoors or in low light conditions.

Why Choose Kodak 35 EF?
